AI is awesome. I’ve never been more excited about anything — this technology will literally change the trajectory of humankind. Before AI, there were so many things I struggled with. Like when I wanted to make a video, nice artwork, or a cool website for my project — I couldn’t. I just didn’t have the skills.

For someone like me who has always worked in the social impact space, AI is truly the best thing that’s happened. Things I only dreamed of doing before are now possible — and my own speed of execution has skyrocketed.

The reason I write about AI and talk about it to everyone who would listen is because I understand the transformative power of this technology. I imagine a day when everyone in the social good space is AI-first and we 100X our impact on the lives of people and the planet.

Since 2023, I’ve been building in AI, getting to know this tech on a really intimate level — and sharing everything I’ve learned through workshops and writing.

AI isn’t just another shiny new toy. It’s a superpower we can all tap into. But if you’re confused about AI — I totally get it. With all these new models and techy terms flying around, it can feel like trying to drink from a firehose. Where do you even start? Are you missing out? It’s a lot, I know.

That’s exactly why I’ve put together “AI for Social Good: Your Big Fat Guide — Everything You Need to Know (So Far!).” For the past year, I’ve been diving deep, experimenting, and sharing everything I’ve learned about how AI can specifically help us do more good. This guide is a collection of all the articles I’ve shared to date — and everything that’s happened in AI so far — now organized into five key parts:

  • Part 2: AI tools — supercharging your fundraising, storytelling, and outreach
  • Part 3: AI tools — unlocking insights and solving complex problems

Part 1: Getting started — AI fundamentals for changemakers

I firmly believe AI is the best thing that’s happened to changemakers — especially the ones operating with small budgets, overwhelmed, and at the brink of burnout. AI offers respite. And if you’re still wondering whether to use AI, read this: Stop Moving at Human Speed, Embrace the Machine.

In short — AI augments us to do more and work smarter. Great for us, and the communities we serve.

Part 2: AI tools — supercharging your fundraising, storytelling, and outreach

Telling stories, creating awareness, mobilizing people to act — that’s what comprises a big part of the work we do. AI gives us powerful tools to create high-quality content in minutes. No skills needed. From writing grants to creating movies, music, and visuals — you can do it all in seconds.

Part 3: AI tools — unlocking insights and solving complex problems

AI helps us design better programs, gain new insights, embrace evidence-based practices, and be more strategic in our interventions — without having to spend countless hours researching and reading long documents.

Part 4: AI transforming sectors and systems

AI is fundamentally changing how entire sectors operate for the better. This section looks at the bigger picture — how AI is being deployed and its incredible potential to transform key areas like healthcare, education, food security, and even the very structures of our communities and governance.

Part 5: The future frontier — advanced AI and endgame

Beyond the tools and applications we can use today, I’m constantly thinking about where AI is headed. In these pieces, I share thoughts on emerging trends, exciting possibilities, and how we can start envisioning an even more abundant future powered by AI.

I genuinely believe we are at the dawn of a golden era for changemakers. The challenges remain, but our toolkit has been phenomenally upgraded. There has never been a more potent technology to accelerate our missions.
