Nine verified funding opportunities for arts access, festivals and youth studios

Summer deadlines
TELUS Friendly Future Foundation (Montreal board) — closes July 31, 2026. Up to $20,000 for grassroots education programs for youth up to 29 facing obstacles. Free after-school arts studios for at-risk youth read exactly as grassroots youth education. Apply.
MusiCounts TD Community Music Program — closes August 18, 2026. Up to $20,000 (Sustain) or $30,000 (Develop) in instruments, equipment and mentorship for youth music programming. The Develop stream welcomes brand-new programs — a music strand for your studios, funded from zero. Details.
Conseil des arts de Montréal — Project Funding, third call closes August 19, 2026. Montréal’s own arts council, funding up to 75% of a project budget for non-profit arts organizations on the Island. The natural first stop for a festival or residency project. Program page.
Fall deadlines
Canada Council — Arts Across Canada, Public Outreach — deadline October 14, 2026. Funding for “activities that build connections between artists and diverse audiences” — which is a working definition of artist residencies in community housing. One caveat: your organization needs to meet the Council’s professional-arts-organization criteria. Details.
Canadian Heritage — Local Festivals — deadline October 15, 2026. Up to $200,000, covering up to 100% of eligible expenses, for recurring festivals showcasing local artists. This October deadline funds festivals held July–August 2027, so it’s exactly when to lock in next summer’s mural festival. Program page.
Zeller Family Foundation — deadline November 10, 2026. A Montreal-priority family foundation whose stated interests — youth, arts & culture, social services — match a community arts charity almost word for word. One application per year, semi-annual deadlines. FAQ.
Open anytime
Canada Council — Explore and Create. Rolling intake: apply any time before your project starts. This funds the creation work itself — commissioned mural pieces, new work developed in residencies. Details.
CALQ — Soutien à la programmation spécifique. Quebec’s arts council takes applications “en tout temps” for organizations with light, flexible structures — designed for small, nimble arts organizations whose programming runs on its own calendar. Program page.
Hydro-Québec donations and sponsorships. Quebec’s flagship corporate giver accepts requests year-round (allow 90 days). Pay-what-you-can arts access for low-income families lands directly on their stated “social inclusion” priority. Request page.
What didn’t survive verification
Eight more candidates dropped: Fondation Dufresne et Gauthier isn’t taking new applications for 2026, the Coutu and Bouchard family foundations have no open process, and Ville de Montréal’s arts programs had winter deadlines. Stale lists still name all of them.
