Top Food Security Grants in Ontario: July–December 2026

If you run a community kitchen, a hamper program, or a catering social enterprise that hires people facing barriers, the second half of 2026 is unusually good to you — but only if you catch the windows. Ontario Trillium opens twice. Two bank funders take rolling applications. And one deadline is days away.

Every grant below was checked against the funder’s own page — the program exists, the window is real, and the deadline you see is the deadline they publish. Here’s what’s open in Ontario from July to December 2026.

Apply this quarter

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant — closes July 15, 2026. If any part of your work grows food — a community garden feeding your kitchen, schoolyard plots — TD FEF funds it, and community gardens are named on the program page. Most grants land between $2,000 and $8,000. Small, fast, and you must apply before the project starts. Apply here.

Ontario Trillium Foundation Seed Grant — window July 22 to August 19, 2026. $10,000 to $100,000 for trying something new over 6 or 12 months. If you’ve been sitting on an idea — upcycling surplus produce into shelf-stable meals, a new employment stream — this is the pilot money. OTF’s page confirms the window closes at 5:00 p.m. ET on August 19. Details.

TELUS Friendly Future Foundation Community Board Grants — July 31, then October 2, 2026. Up to $20,000 for local health and education programs serving youth up to 29. Food-skills training and employment-readiness programs for young people fit here, and the GTA board covers Peel. Two chances this fall. Apply.

Community Foundation of Mississauga — Pendle Fund, September 2026. Up to $30,000 for Mississauga-serving charities, applications accepted during the month of September only. There’s also a Smart & Caring Children & Youth Fund at up to $5,000. If you work in Peel, your community foundation should know your name. Grant seekers page.

Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant — window October 7 to November 4, 2026. The big one: $100,000 to $600,000 over two or three years to scale a program you’ve already proven. If your kitchen or training model has numbers behind it, this is the grant that turns a program into an institution. Details.

RBC Foundation Community Spaces Grant — expected fall 2026. Capital money: $25,000 minimum, up to $500,000 a year for inclusive community spaces. RBC’s page currently says “check back Fall 2026” — put a reminder in your calendar now, because a community kitchen renovation is exactly what this funds. Watch this page.

Open anytime — rolling applications

CIBC Foundation accepts applications year-round and reviews them quarterly. Their Inclusive Communities pillar funds education and employment access — a catering enterprise that hires people facing labour-market barriers speaks their language. Guidelines.

Longo’s takes donation and sponsorship requests online year-round, and their published priority is child nutrition and food aid programs. A GTA grocer funding GTA food work — start the relationship. In the community.

Walmart Canada Local Community Grants — each store gives several $1,000 grants a year to local non-profits. Micro-money, minimal paperwork, good for topping up a hamper run. Community page.

What didn’t make the list

We checked sixteen more programs and dropped them — the Local Food Infrastructure Fund is closed with no announced next intake, Second Harvest’s fund has made its determinations, Toronto Foundation’s Vital Signs closed in May, and several family foundations aren’t accepting applications this year. That’s the point of a verified list: what’s here is real, and what’s not here would have wasted your evening.
