Top Grants for Newcomer and Settlement Programs in Alberta: July–December 2026

If your settlement agency runs on one big federal contribution agreement, you already know the fear: one policy shift, one program review, and the whole organization holds its breath. Deadlines to hit this summer

TELUS Friendly Future Foundation Community Board Grants — July 31, then October 2, 2026. Up to $20,000 for local health and education programs for youth up to 29. Newcomer youth homework clubs are a clean fit, and the Calgary board sits in the fall round. Apply.

Alberta Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Project Grant — August 15, 2026. Up to $75,000 from the province for new community-driven initiatives. A new employment-bridging cohort or youth program stream qualifies. Alberta-registered non-profits operational for a year or more can apply. Details.

Calgary Foundation Community Grants — fall cycle opens late July, closes early September 2026. Your community foundation is the natural first step away from federal dependence — they fund exactly this kind of Calgary-serving charitable programming. Grant page.

Fall deadlines

Alberta Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Small — September 15, 2026. Up to $125,000 in capital funding for the spaces where your programs actually run. One caveat to know before you start: it’s capital-only, and you must match the grant dollar for dollar. Details.

Canada Summer Jobs 2027 — employer applications expected November–December 2026. The wage subsidy that staffs summer camps and homework clubs, often with newcomer youth themselves. The 2026 window ran November 4 to December 11, so mark late November now. Program page.

The big-bank funders — open all year

These three take rolling applications, which means the best time to apply is whenever you’re ready — and each one’s own funding language reads like it was written for settlement work.

RBC Community Investments accepts seed, scale and sustain applications on a rolling basis. Their skills pillar literally says they want to “reduce the time required for foreign-trained individuals to secure employment in the sectors for which they are eminently qualified.” That’s your employment bridging program, in their words. Scotiabank’s ScotiaRISE — a 10-year, $500-million commitment — is the only big-bank program that names newcomers as an explicit pillar: “helping newcomers feel at home faster.” Applications reviewed year-round; allow 90 days. Audited financials required. Guidelines.

TD Ready Commitment reviews requests quarterly — July 6 and October 5, 2026 fall in this window. Financial Security and Connected Communities are the drivers that fit newcomer financial literacy and belonging work. One request per year, so pick your strongest program. Funding page.

New Horizons for Seniors Program — closes July 14, 2026. Up to $50,000 for projects where seniors lead, plan or deliver. If you serve newcomer or refugee seniors — seniors-led language circles, elders’ cultural programming — this is federal money that isn’t IRCC. Very tight deadline. Program page.

What we dropped

Seven candidates didn’t survive verification: Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund is closed, the WES Mariam Assefa Fund’s opportunity has ended, Definity isn’t accepting unsolicited applications, the Counselling Foundation’s 2026 funding is fully committed, and Burns Memorial’s only 2026 deadline passed in May. If a list you’re reading elsewhere still includes them, that list is stale.
