Whole Kids Garden Grant

Deadline: Rolling deadline Amount: Up to USD 3,500 Where: United States and Canada

About this grant

A $3,500 grant to start or expand an edible educational garden at a K-12 school, engaging children in growing food. Applicants may also opt in to be considered for an additional grant from Newman's Own Foundation, awarded on top of the Whole Kids award for US applicants.

Details verified from the funder's page on July 29, 2026. Always confirm the latest requirements on the official Whole Kids Foundation page before submitting.

Who can apply

UNITED STATES (plus Canada for the base grant; the Newman's Own top-up is US-only). The garden must live on the grounds of a public or nonprofit private K-12 school, or a tribally controlled or Bureau of Indian Education school. Must work with at least 10 children in grades K-12 in the garden each year. The garden must be edible and educational — growing vegetables, fruit, grains or other edible plants. The school principal must be aware of the application and provide a signed letter of support on school letterhead. Entities that have already received two or more Whole Kids garden grants are ineligible. Funds spent on a scholarship, such as attending a training, may not exceed 30% (or $900) of the total grant.

How to apply

  1. Read the guidelines on the Whole Kids Foundation website and confirm your organization qualifies.
  2. Gather your basics: mission, the problem you address, your program plan, and a budget for what you'd do with the funding.
  3. Write the proposal — or have GrantOrb draft it for you from your organization's profile, tailored to Whole Kids Garden Grant, in minutes instead of weeks.
